Team Success Stories

Katherine's Success Story

After recently celebrating her 25-year work anniversary at Gold Country Casino, Katie is currently one of GCCR's longest-running team members! At only 18 years old, she began her career in casino housekeeping and would later transition into other roles involving snack bar, drop count, and Mega Mania. It wasn’t until two years later that she discovered her passion for working in the Cage. In 1999 she became a Cage Supervisor and by 2002 she was promoted to the Lead Cage Supervisor. After accumulating more than a decade worth of leadership experience, Katie was promoted to Cage Manager, her most current position to this day. Katie’s tenured career is a testament to the enjoyment of her team and its environment. When asked about what advice she would give she mentions, “Consider your work performance as a reflection of your character. You will succeed if you have pride in your performance.”

Kenny's Success Story

Kenny’s love for I.T. began as an intern at the Butte County Office of Education. However, his time at Gold Country Casino began as a busser in the casino’s café. Kenny excelled in his role and after seven short months he was promoted to Café Supervisor. Five years later, Kenny had a change of interest and wanted to shift his career toward his passion for Information Technology. By the start of 2014, Kenny took a leap of faith and transferred to the I.T Help Desk. After eight years of hard work, doors began to open for Kenny that would push his career to new heights! By September of 2022, an opportunity arose, and Kenny was promoted to I.T. Director! Kenny loves his new position and his current I.T team who are always ready to go the extra mile for him! Kenny would like to encourage team members to not be afraid of taking the leap if you love what you do!

Kendrik's Success Story

As a Tribal Member, Kendrik started working with the Tyme Maidu Tribe in 2004 as a teenager. After working with the “Youth Work & Learn” summer program for two years he would later transition into a role at the Tyme To Bowl Bowling Alley. After nine years at the Bowling Alley, he decided to transfer to Gold Country Casino where he would begin his gaming career as a Casino Floor Manager. His leadership skills quickly shined and in two short years, he was promoted to the Lead CFM position. Kendrik’s success didn’t stop there… His experience as the Lead CFM helped propel his career to new heights. In April 2022, he advanced into the Player Development Manager role and was concurrently named the Interim Director of Marketing. Kendrik would like to give the following advice to all team members who aspire to advance in their position. “Learn as much as you can about your role, strive to be a team member that your direct reports can count on, don't be afraid to jump on opportunities that present themselves, and always be willing to learn.”
